Police To Add 'Know Your Speed' Signs To Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Police Department recently purchased new radar speed displays that record and collect traffic data to aid in its Speed Reduction Initiative.

The devices will be used to first measure the extent of the problem then to develop the appropriate response and deploy resources. This may range from using the display signs for a specific period of time to gain voluntary compliance to assigning officers to conduct radar enforcement in the area.

The signs are portable and will be moved to various locations throughout the city in response to resident complaints of speeding vehicles.

The signs were purchased using funds from a federal technology grant.
