OXFORD, Conn. -- Connecticut state police are asking the public's help in locating an Oxford man who has been missing since the beginning of 2016.

A Silver Alert was first issued for John "Jack" Fairhurst in January 2016 after he was reported missing by friends and family. Detectives assigned to Western District Major Crime and troopers have been investigating and following leads, but his whereabouts remain unknown.

In February 2016, his vehicle was found abandoned at the South Norwalk railway commuter lot, police said.

Fairhurst was last seen in January 2016 in Southbury. He is described as a 55-year-old while male, approximately 5 foot 8 to 5 foot 9, between 190 and 200 pounds, with greying hair. He was employed by Costco in Brookfield and SB Church Company in Oxford.

Anyone who thinks they may know Fairhurst's whereabouts or who may have any information about him is asked to contact State Police Det. George at (203) 267-2224 or text TIP711 with any information to 274637. All calls and texts will remain confidential.
