Police: Norwalk Teen Posted Harassing Photos Of Teacher On App

NORWALK, Conn. -- A 14 year-old Brien McMahon High School student was referred to juvenile authorities after she posted harassing pictures of a teacher on a social media app, Norwalk police said.

The student resource officer at Brien McMahon reported that he became aware of a new app called Streetchat, which allows individuals to check in to schools and anonymously post photos and comments.

After downloading the app to stay aware of what students were doing, the officer discovered several vulgar posts made by students at Brien McMahon, according to police reports.

Among the posts the officer discovered were two photos of a teacher at the school with vulgar comments, police said.

School officials determined that the posts were made by a 14-year-old female student, who admitted to posting them, according to police reports. The student's case was referred to the Juvenile Review Board, a board of youth professionals in Norwalk who offer alternatives to the criminal justice system.
