Daniel McWilliams, 43, was charged with driving with the intent to harass or intimidate, second-degree breach of peace, carrying a dangerous weapon and second-degree threatening. He was held on $10,000 bond and will appear in court July 2.

On May 22, two men said they were driving on Westport Avenue when a car began following them closely, looking like it was trying to strike them from the rear, police said. The cars stopped on the road, and the two reported that McWilliams got out of the rear car with a pit bull, according to police reports. He gave the pit bull commands to attack the other driver and his passenger, police said. The two men drove away, and said McWilliams continued to follow them, police said.

They pulled into the parking lot near Westport Avenue and Strawberry Hill Avenue, police said. McWilliams pulled into the lot behind them, and got out of his car with a knife, according to police reports. He began making threatening statements to the two men before getting back in his car and driving away, police said.

McWilliams went to the police station later that evening and said that he followed the men because he saw them driving fast. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was taken into custody Friday.
