The body of Jorge Simon, 26, a native of Guatemala, was found fully clothed, police said. He was identified by identification that was on his body, police said.

It appeared that Simon's body had been submerged in water for some time, police said. There didn't appear to be any trauma or signs of foul play, police said.

Simon was reported missing by his family Feb. 16 after he hadn't returned home for several days.

Relatives told police that Simon had been out with friends and was last seen in the area of Stillwater Avenue and Finney Lane at about 12:15 a.m. Feb. 14. At that time, Stamford Police conducted an extensive search of the area and used field searches, K-9s, media releases, social media and investigative checks in an attempt to locate Simon.

He was found on the private beach in Stamford's Shippan neighborhood by landscapers. ?

An autopsy will be performed Tuesday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Simon lived and worked in Stamford after moving from Guatemala seven years ago.

Police are asking the public to come forward with any information on how Simon traveled from Stillwater Avenue to the waterfront. Anyone with information is asked to notify the Stamford Police Department detective bureau. All information will be kept confidential.
