NORWALK, Conn. – A Brooklyn man was accused of using fake and stolen credit cards in an attempt to take more than $7,500 worth of merchandise from the Norwalk Best Buy store Thursday, according to police reports.
Store security at Best Buy called to report the incident at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday. They reported that a man tried to use credit cards to pay for three MacBook computers, with a combined value of $7,657, police say.
Security guards gave police a description of the suspect and told police he left the store and got into a car with a New York license plate, according to the police report.
Kenneth Owens, 26, of Brooklyn, N.Y. was found in a car matching that description in the parking lot, police say. Owens had a stolen credit card and two fake cards on him at the time, according to the arrest report.
Owens was charged with attempted larceny, illegal use of a credit card and two counts of forgery. His bond was set at $25,000, and he is due in court on Aug. 12.
