NORWALK, Conn. -- A Waterbury man was charged with pushing a doctor and another employee at Norwalk Hospital on Tuesday, June 3, according to police.
Danny Palmer, 48, was charged with two counts of assault on emergency medical personnel, second-degree breach of peace and second-degree threatening. He was held on $10,000 bond and will appear in court Tuesday, June 10.
The incident began after police received a call about an intoxicated person on James Street near Perry Avenue. Officers located him and, due to his level of intoxication, took him to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation, police said.
When they arrived at the hospital, police said he refused to get out of the squad car. When officers did get him out, he lay down on the pavement and refused to get up, according to police. He eventually had to be assisted into a bed, police said.
Police later received a call from the hospital, complaining about a violent patient. According to police reports, Palmer had pushed a doctor, who fell back and hit a wall. He then pushed another hospital employee, who fell on the doctor and sustained an injury, police said. Palmer was subsequently arrested.
