NORWALK, Conn. – A suspected drug dealer was found hiding crack-cocaine in his buttocks during an arrest in Norwalk Monday night, police said.

Officers on patrol said they saw a man standing outside a car stopped in a lot on Woodward Avenue after hours Monday night, according to police reports. The area is “known for walk-up drug sales,” so police decided to pull over the car after the suspect got inside, Lt. Paul Resnick said Tuesday.

The car’s driver, Andre Smith, 32, of Prospect Street, told police that he was in the area to pick up his friend, police said. Smith eventually told police that he had a pistol and a valid permit in his glove box, and gave officers permission to search his car, according to the police report.

During the search officers said they found a glass pipe with crack-cocaine residue in a center cup holder, police said. Police also found a candy box containing paper folds with heroin in another cup holder, and loose crack rocks on the passenger side, according to the police report.

Benjamin Mosby, 35, of Bridgeport was in the passenger seat during the stop. During a police pat-down an officer found more than $1,700 in his pocket, and noticed that he was “clenching his buttocks muscles,” Resnick said. Mosby was taken to Norwalk Police headquarters, where police found four crack rocks concealed in his buttocks, according to the police report.

Smith was charged with trespassing and possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Mosby was charged with trespassing, interfering with police, possession of narcotics and intent to sell. Both also face added charges for being within 1,500 feet of a school during their arrest. Both were released on bond and are due in court on Oct. 25.
