Sandra Kaiser of Deacon Abbott Street died May 12 at Danbury Hospital after the attack by the dog, which is a “mixed breed” and “rescue” dog but “not a pitbull,” Police Chief Doug Fuchs told the Redding Pilot.

Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to know the exact cause of death, the Pilot said.

Kaiser suffered “very serious injuries,” which set off a series of events that lead to her death, but the attack may not have been the exact cause of death, Fuchs told the Redding Pilot.
