Sarina Clark, 37, was charged with first-degree larceny and third-degree forgery. She was held on $50,000 bond and went to court Monday.
Police received a complaint Sept. 15 from the general manager of a local restaurant that an employee had stolen money from the business. Officers investigated the claim, and found that the employee, Clark, would void out items in the dinner checks, which never made it to the bank, police said. It was determined that Clark had stolen $35,794.55 over a six-month period, according to police.
Police also learned that Clark had forged checks made out to former employees and then endorsed the checks herself, stealing the funds, according to police reports.
Westport police responded to the Norwalk Police Department on April 3 and took custody of Clark, who had been arrested in connection with a larceny offense in Norwalk.
