NORWALK, Conn. – Gunfire erupted on a South Norwalk street Tuesday evening as two men fired shots from a car, causing pedestrians in the area to flee, Norwalk police said.
Police were unable to find a victim and reported no injuries.
Multiple residents called at 8:46 p.m. to report shots fired in the area of 26 Novak St., Sgt. James Boff said. Two black men came down the street in a gold Honda, shooting out the window, then speeding off in the direction of Meadow Street, according to witnesses, Boff said.
Police flooded the area, Boff said. A witness said she heard six or seven shots and a girl screaming. She reported several people had run away.
Police found six shell casings in the road. There also was a black Mongoose bicycle lying in the road.
There was no trail of blood, Boff said. Police checked all area hospitals and did not find a victim. There are no suspects.

I keep saying it and it should be taken seriously that we need to DECREASE the amount of affordable houseing/projects in the city instead of creating more or maintaining what we have. If people on assistance cant stay too bad, as it is right now many good people have to leave over the tax burden. I'd rather lose 1000 welfare leaches than one taxpayer, ones good for everyone & the other a burden on everyone. It stinks to be needy but at this point all we the taxpayers get for our efforts are violence, drugs & killings. I know most people in those projects arent involved but I also know that neighboring towns that dont have Roodner courts & meadow gardens also dont have drive bys & weekly shootings. I'm sorry for those not involved but We, the taxpayers of Norwalk, owe no one a thing and if we are really sick of the violence the thing to do is start eliminating the environments it comes from.
This is enough, we need federal law enforcement in Norwalk, the police cannot be expected to handle this situation, the mayor and others stated very vigorously there were no "gangs" in Norwalk, they lied, and I mean this, they lied for years, I am very satisfied that Rilling is no longer the police chief, but this isn't about politics, it's about human life.
I'd like to see the FBI in Norwalk, doing what they did in East LA, and Miami, and then let's see these "amateurs" try to circumvent that.
Again, I give the new police chief credit, but right now?
It's too little too late,
One post script, clever comments about alternatitve headlines don't impress, they are just snark, with nothing behind to substantiate.
I live in South Norwalk, have a little respect the rest of you.

You are 100 percent correct. This is what I have been saying all along ..Also we could have the State PD ride along with Norwalk as has been done in other cities in CT. Shame it has got this bad but we have Moccia and Rilling to thank for this as they were in dental of the gangs and crime for way to long.
NL,
Interesting idea. What exactly would the FBI do that the Norwalk PD can't or won't do?
What exactly would the FBI do that the Norwalk PD can't or won't do?
They would bring professionals to Norwalk that know how to do the job. UNLIKE THE CHILDREN AT THE NPD. All the experienced officers and investigators have left do to the mess the NPD is. Shame the mayor was more concerned with the police union endorsement than doing a nationwide search for the best candidate for chief.
What they did the last time I contacted them
Regards
NL
Which was what? Also, if you've successfully called them in once before, what's preventing you from doing the same again?
Dear Iwitherspoon:
I think you would have surmised why I didn't respond, but let me illuminate, "exactly what" they would do is not hard to determine, it is beyond what the norwalk police do now.
And insofar as contacting them again, you understand that others in the community must also engage in soliciting them to help in a situation like this,
A simple request for investigation in the interstate trafficking of firearms is a good start.
Can we count on your as being one of those who would support an FBI investigation?
Please let me know
Regards
NL
NL,
I had a variety of theories as to why you didn't respond, but wanted to let you explain it for yourself. Forgive me but your responses seem a bit cagey and evasive. In your opinion we need the FBI to do SOMETHING "beyond what the Norwalk Police do now," but that something is rather cloudy. What exactly did the FBI do the last time you called them in?
You suggest that a good starting point would be an investigation into interstate trafficking of firearms. Are you saying that there is evidence or leads regarding interstate trafficking of firearms into Norwalk which the Norwalk PD is not pursuing appropriately and/or not turning over to the appropriate authorities?
I am reluctant to speak in support of an FBI investigation without knowing the full context or purpose of same, but if it could reasonably be expected to lead to less crime in Norwalk, without burdening us with extra costs, then of course I would support it.
In another comment you rather eloquently stated that by and large teachers are well-meaning, hard-working, and effective, but of course there are some rotten apples as there are with every large workforce. I agree, and I believe the same is true of the Norwalk PD. I'm puzzled as to why you're far less charitable with the Norwalk PD, who take daily risks and face workplace stresses that don't come anywhere close to those of a teacher. There is not any evidence you've shared which suggests that the department is rotten to the core, only some anecdotes which imply that a few officers could improve their public relations skills.
This is why people with young kids are trying to move out of Norwalk. They don't feel safe, and why should they?
The reason people with young kids move out of Norwalk is not an occasional shooting in a known rough part of town, it's the schools. Send your kids to certain Norwalk schools, and for eight hours a day they will be exposed to the negative influence of the many unparented at-risk youth who may some day grow up to engage in the same sort of behavior described in this article. What parent in his right mind would want that for his child?
"occasional shooting"
Do you have no shame???We already had 2 shootings and a stabbing this week and its only Thur... Also the stabbing was off CT Ave is not a bad part of town..We have had shootings and stabbings in every part of Norwalk.. Why because the scum has no fear of the NPD..Only the administration, a stooge for the administration, criminals and the NPD would be sticking up for the mess Norwalk has become..Oh and where is our mayor at the Republican convention in FL.....
Wow!!
So your real name is Steve???
Called out again but this time maybe it's your real name and by someone who knows what you look like?!?!
You my friend are a loser!! You should get a life and a job! Then maybe we can be saved the grief of reading your pointless posts!
The question that needs to be asked is why do these criminals feel so comfortable committing crime in Norwalk.
Answer
They know they will not be caught.
Tim..or Steve...or whatever you want to be known as...give it up. Hoodlums would pull guns and shoot them at each other if we had a cop on every corner. Your attempts to try to discredit the mayor and cops at every turn are as stupid as your long and curly pony tail.
You have no idea of what you are talking about, Hoodlums? try gang members,
Regards
NL
Gang members arent hoodlums?
I make no attempt to to try to discredit the mayor and cops..They do it themselves.
Just so sick and tired of people (kids) not having any regard for life....
Parents .. be parents and know what your children are doing and teach them right from wrong it is " your " job !!
Most of the shooting in South Norwalk is from kids.. not organized criminals.
I am also tired of parents crying over ther dead child and telling everyone that they were "such a good person" after ther gone!
Crime is not taught at HOME ...Keep them home, teach them right from wrong or dont have children !!!
@fflouieeee
Very perceptive comment. More parents need to fulfill their parenting responsibilities, so that there will be fewer incidents of this nature in South Norwalk.
How is this news anymore. Headlines should read "No shots fired in South Norwalk last night". That would be news!
You know what they say, A night without gunfire is like a day without sunshine
True Mike very true
Just add this the100's of other unsolved crimes by the NPD
