NORWALK, Conn. – A Bridgeport man and a Stratford woman were charged Tuesday with stealing a $10,000 coin collection and other valuables from a Norwalk home late last year, according to police reports.

A North Main Street man reported in December 2012 that items had gone missing from his Norwalk condo while he was out of town, police said. The items reported stolen included an iPod, credit cards, a digital camera and the rare coin collection, with a total estimated value of $1,400, police said. The resident also later reported that a $6,000 Rolex watch was also missing, according to police reports.

The resident told police in May that he had been sent a photo of a man he knew wearing the Rolex watch. He had also learned from Mobil that his credit card was used to fill up a car belonging to the suspect’s girlfriend, according to the police report.

Jahzeel Jones-Gordon, 23, of Bridgeport later confirmed in text messages that he had stolen the items, police said. The suspect said in the message that he had pawned the coins, but the watch and other items were stolen by another person, according to the police report. Investigators confirmed that the coin collection had been sold via pawn shop records, police said.

Jones-Gordon and his girlfriend Morgan Hefferon, 30, of Stratford, were arrested by Stratford Police on unrelated charges Tuesday. They were both turned over to Norwalk Police after officers found a warrant for their arrest.

Norwalk Police charged Jones-Gordon and Hefferon with third-degree larceny and conspiracy Tuesday. Their bond was set at $10,000 each, and they are due in court on Sept. 5.
