NORWALK, Conn. – A man was shot Tuesday night on North Taylor Avenue, Norwalk Police say.
The 22-year-old victim was shot when he was on the corner of North Taylor Avenue and Ivy Place, Sgt. Lisa Cotto said. He suffered non-life threatening injuries. The detective bureau is not releasing any further information.
Police blocked North Taylor Avenue at Ivy Place Tuesday evening as they investigated the shooting, which was reported at about 8 p.m.
Detective Shannon Sherry and other members of the detective squad were on the scene at about 8:45 p.m. looking for evidence in a torrential downpour. Sherry offered no information about the crime.

I do think our police chief should live here. But doubt that has as much effect as some of the people who DO live here. Norwalk doesnt seem too attractive a place to live to our city PD, but it sure seems attractive to gangs, drug dealers & other bottom feeding leaches who ruin it for the good people. Thats what we need to change, it has little to do with law enforcement & much to do with us enabling the criminals. Lets not forget that the Liberal Democrats in Hartford want us to start releasing MORE convicted violent offenders, many of which I'm sure will love calling Norwalk home. Lets keep violent criminals in prison and out of Norwalk by electing some conservatives in Hartford for a start & try attracting honest working men & women to Norwalk instead of building MORE affordable houseing.

It has everything to do with law enforcement..The way Norwalk is enabling criminals is by not catching them and thus creating an environment where they feel comfortable committing crime. If the NPD were not a failure we would have a much higher violent solved crime rate.
I find it comical when other people on this board are ready to give awards to the NPD when they finally solve one, but in turn forget about the 100's of others unsolved.
Norwalk crime is out of control..The new chief is as much of a waste as the old one. The only difference is that the old chief at least had the class to live in the Norwalk Moccia had a chance to make a change for the better but was more concerned with the police union endorsement.
Nancy, you deserve an award for driving to the scene of a shooting in the middle of dangerous winds and a torrential rainstorm to take that amazing photo. It's really impressive that in spite of the darkness you were able to capture the flashing lights, the driving rain, and the silhouette of the officers. Such evocative photos are rare, this one sends chills down my spine. Stay safe out there.

The flooding on West Avenue by the on ramp to 95 was incredible. Two cars got stalled out there. The rest of us barely made it through. The water was literally up to the granite curbs.
