Officers responded to the area of South Main Street and Grove Street at 2:45 p.m. on a report of a large fight, police said.

When they arrived, officers found a large group of people outside involved in a melee, police said. Several started walking away when police arrived, and the officers were able to secure the scene, police said.

South Main Street was closed for several hours while they processed the scene.

A 22-year-old male resident of Norwalk suffered a stab wound during the fight, police said. Officers administered aid, and he was rushed to Norwalk Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.

Three people were arrested in connection with the fight, but nobody has been charged with the actual stabbing, police said.

Three 18-year-old Norwalk residents -- Xavior Baez, Nasir Hilliard and Calvin Hilliard -- were each charged with second-degree breach of peace.

Hilliard was also charged with possession of narcotics, possession near a school and possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana after officers said they found a small amount of marijuana and a small amount of ecstasy powder in his possession, police said. Each posted $10,000 bond and will appear in court on March 13.
