NORWALK, Conn. — Just a day after an accidental car crash destroyed the front of the UPS Store in Norwalk, the resilient store is again open for business.
On Thursday morning, a makeshift wood door was open and "We Are Open" sign was posted on its boarded-up windows.
The 304 Main Ave. business sustained serious damage in the crash, which was reported at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived at the store, the car engine was on and the car was smoking as it sat in the store, police said.
Police said the 79-year-old female driver was not seriously injured in the crash, but she was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
Police said the woman was not operating her vehicle in a reckless or intentional manner. No enforcement action was taken, police said.
The building inspector has checked the scene.
