NORWALK, Conn. – A Norwalk woman who started a fight with three other women was beaten early Wednesday, police say. The women accused of hurting her were arrested. Sgt. Lisa Cotto did not know the extent of the victim's injuries.
The 22-year-old victim went to the Norwalk Hospital emergency room at about 1 a.m., Cotto said. She identified her attackers to police, Cotto said.
The women went to headquarters at about 3:30 a.m. after being contacted by police, Cotto said. One said she had been at 80 Fair St. when she heard someone yelling an obscenity at her, according to Cotto. It was the victim, who threw something at her as she drove by in a car.
The woman said she went to Washington Village and got together with friends. The victim walked by on Water Street and provoked them verbally, according to the account relayed by Cotto. They began to fight.
Raneka France, 25, of 133 Monterey Place; Lashunda Jackson, 29, of 93 Richards Ave., Apt. 108; and Erika Luca, 24, of 93 Woodward Ave.; were given summons for third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. Cotto did not know why the victim was not charged.

Is there a charge for being an assault victim ? How do we get the headline that she started the fight when the other three came looking for her and beat her up ? The worst thing they said she did was yell a bad word. If the police have to arrest everybody who yells a bad word they would not have room for all of us. (Ever stub your toe and say something nice ?) Why weren't all three charged with conspiracy ? The investigating officer obviously knows more than was released by Cotto.
