According to police, an elderly man with a white beard and wearing a camouflage jacket entered the store with a woman, later identified as Lourdes Rodriguez-Deets, 52, of Norwalk, and put three pairs of men's Levi's jeans, valued at $186, into her purse before attempting to walk out without paying.
A security guard approached and put his hand on Rodriguez-Deets' shoulder, said he was security and asked them to return to the store, police said. She refused, and the guard grabbed the purse, police said.
At that point, the unidentified man pushed the security guard and say he had a gun and would use it on him, police said. The security guard then backed away, and Rodriguez-Deets and the man fled on foot, police said.
Officers located her on Riverside Drive and took her into custody, police said. She told officers that she and the man agreed to take items from the store before arriving there, police said.
Rodriguez-Deets was charged with sixth-degree larceny and sixth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny. She was released on $240 bond and given a court date of Jan. 29.
