NORWALK, Conn. A Bridgeport woman suspected of being an accomplice in a recent East Norwalk business burglary was arrested on a warrant Wednesday.
Norwalk police say Jeannette Morton, 53, sat outside Effective Plumbing on First Street Aug. 15 honking the horn of her vehicle as another man, who had broken into the basement, was spied by the business's owner.
Lavurne Simmons of Norwalk was arrested that day , having been apprehended at East and Seaview avenues, Sgt. Lisa Cotto said. The pair also were arrested Aug. 2 after an East Norwalk resident caught Simmons in his garage, attempting to remove copper pipes, police said.
Morton was in a gold Toyota Corrolla, but the plate on the vehicle matched a Chevy K15 pickup truck being operated by Simmons, Cotto said. She also is a suspect in another burglary, when the Corrolla was bearing a plate that came back to a Ford Windstar, police said. She was charged with two counts of larceny sixth degree, criminal attempt, criminal trespass, two counts of burglary third degree and two counts of conspiracy. Her bond was set at $50,000.
