Joseph Delia, 19, was charged with third-degree larceny and second-degree burglary. He was held on $10,000 bond and will appear in court Jan. 12.

Police received a report at about 10 p.m. Tuesday that a box with the jewelry in it had been stolen during the day. A resident reported seeing Delia at the house that day going through a drawer, according to police.

He had asked whether his friend who lives there was home, and left after finding out he wasn't, police said. It was later discovered that the jewelry had gone missing, police said.

Officers responded to a home where Delia was staying and detained him, police.

It was determined that he had pawned the jewelry earlier in the day, police said. He was taken into custody.
