NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk Adult Probation Officer Jason Grady was recently recognized for his help in getting a gun out of a convicted felon's possession.

Grady was given the Certificate of Community Service by the Norwalk Police Commission on Monday. Police said that during the month of July, Grady provided information to the Special Services Division regarding a man that was armed with a handgun.

Officers were able to locate and arrest the man, who was in possession of a handgun and crack cocaine, police said. Police Chief Thomas Kulhawik noted that Grady's actions help officers safely remove a gun from the convicted felon's possession, and take him into custody without incident.

"There is no doubt that the city is safer as a result. Thank you for your partnership Officer Grady."
