Ashley Aponte was charged with assault on a peace officer, second-degree breach of peace, interfering with an officer and criminal mischief. She was held on $25,000 bond and went to court Monday.

Officers were responding to a report of a fight on Wall Street shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday when they were approached by a citizen who said there was another fight between a man and a woman down the street, police said. Officers saw a car stopped in the roadway and a woman, later identified as Aponte, throwing an object at the front windshield, police said.

The windshield was cracked from the bottle Aponte had thrown, police said.

Officers went to place Aponte under arrest when she began yelling and kicking at the officers, police said. She made contact with one and continued to cause a disturbance until she was eventually pepper-sprayed, according to police reports.

She was then taken into custody. Police determined that the fight had been between Aponte and her boyfriend, whose car she had damaged.
