The department also asked residents to avoid Water Street due to flooding in the area, according to posts on its Twitter and Instagram accounts.

A post on the department’s Instagram account shows a cruiser parked on a snow-covered Westport Ave. in front of Stew Leonard’s. The department is urging people not to shop for groceries at this time, though.

“Got milk? If not wait until the storm ends. Roads are treacherous, stay home,” the post said.
