NORWALK, Conn. -- Police in Norwalk are still trying to figure out who stabbed a Bridgeport man to death Halloween night in Norwalk in 2000.

John Norwood (aka John Reid) was discovered facedown by Sgt. Chuck Fallo, Sgt. Thomas Fedele and Officer Mark Morin at 6:20 p.m on South Main and Grove streets by Building 3 inside Carlton Court.

The officers had heard three gunshots and saw two older males heading towards the victim to render assistance, according to Norwalk Police Cold Case Homicide 00-56123.

The victim's intestines were extruding, he had lacerations to his face and he was barely conscious.

Morin and Fedele drove with him in the ambulance but he died on the operating table of a knife wound that severed his aorta in the stomach area.

The crime scene investigation shows that Norwood was most likely stabbed first in the area of 2 Grove St., at the corner of South Main Street, the report indicates.

He then pulled out a Sig Sauer P228 9mm handgun and fired three shots at his attacker from the area of South Main Street and Belle Avenue, where he dropped the handgun and then stumbled down South Main Street and collapsed. It does not appear that any bullets struck the attacker.

The girlfriend of Norwood was interviewed at the hospital and stated that a few minutes prior to the shooting, she was with him on the front porch of her house at the corner of Belle Avenue. Norwood told her that he was having problems with “Sheen,” according to the report.

The girlfriend also saw Michael Moss in the area with “Sheen,” who was later identified as Sasheen Carlos.

Carlos was interviewed and stated that he had an ongoing problem with Norwood and that Norwood had put a gun in his face the night before, on Oct. 30.

Earlier in the afternoon on Oct. 31, Carlos stated he had a fight with Norwood and he (Carlos) got the better of Norwood who walked off towards his girlfriend’s house afterwards. Carlos reported that Michael Moss broke up the fight.

Sasheen Carlos denied any involvement in the stabbing murder of John Norwood.
