NORWALK, Conn. – Two suspects were accused of trying to steal more than $3,600 worth of clothing from a Norwalk store with a 2-year-old child in tow Monday, according to police reports.

Store security at Kohl’s on Connecticut Avenue told police that two men were seen in the store placing jeans and other men’s clothing into two bags, police said. The two then tried to walk out of the store without paying, according to the guards’ report.

One of the suspects, Tirrell Jones, 39, of Ingleside Avenue, was pushing a stroller with a 2-year-old family member inside, according to the police report. The suspects used the stroller to carry the two bags after filling them, police said.

Police stopped the two men in the store’s parking lot, and found that the bags had been lined with tinfoil to interfere with the store's anti-theft sensors, police said.

The total value of the items inside was $3,650, according to the police report. Officers also found a small amount of marijuana in the pocket of another suspect, 35-year-old Dushan Pierce of Bridgeport, police said.

Jones and Pierce were arrested and charged with fourth-degree larceny, possession of a shoplifting device and conspiracy. Jones was also charged with a risk of injury to a minor, and Pierce was also charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both are due in court on Oct. 9.
