At 3:02 a.m. Wednesday, officers arrived at the AT&T Store at 30 Belden Ave., on a commercial burglar alarm, police said.

The alarm company had observed a suspect on the store's surveillance cameras, police said.

Arriving officers found the front door had been shattered, police said. Moments later, the suspect walked out of the parking area onto Belden Avenue, police said.

The suspect, Barry Turner, 19, was immediately taken into custody without incident, police said.

Turner was wearing gloves and had various tools in his possession, police said. Officers determined that he had used a pickaxe to break the store's front door and gain entry, police said.

Turner left through the front of the store without stealing any items, police said.

Turner, of 11 Norden Place, Norwalk, was charged with third-degree criminal attempt at burglary, possession of burglary tools and second-degree criminal mischief. He was held on $10,000 bond for an Oct. 5 court appearance.
