Vladimir Yahontov, 35, was charged with fifth-degree larceny, credit card theft, criminal attempt and second-degree forgery. He was held on $25,000 bond and will appear in court Oct. 13.
Officers were called to the store Sunday afternoon and spoke with a manager, who said that two men had tried to purchase a $900 iPad and sign up for a Sprint lease contract. When asked to show ID, one of the men, Yahontov, presented a Pennsylvania license.
The manager told police that the holograms did not look right, and when it was checked the number on the license came back as expired and did not match the name on the license, according to police reports.
Yahontov was detained and police said that at first he would not give his name or identification when asked. Eventually he handed over a New York license.
When he was patted down, police found a stack of cards that included a credit card, two non-government photo IDs and a driver's license. He was then taken into custody.
The other man said he was just there to give Yahontov a ride and had just met him the night before, police said.
