NORWALK, Conn. -- Two Boy Scouts from Troop 19 were recognized by the Norwalk Police Commission on Monday for their help in cleaning up the Marine Unit’s dock and parking area off Water Street earlier this month.

First Class Scout Nathaniel Grauel, 12, and Life Scout Anthony D’Andrea, 16, were presented with certificates of appreciation at the meeting.

“It is very encouraging to see young people such as yourselves, helping their community in such a selfless manner,” said Police Chief Thomas Kulhawik.

D’Andrea is a junior at Brien McMahon High School. Grauel is a seventh-grader at Nathan Hale Middle School.

Troop 19 has been part of the community for 86 years. It meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays at Norwalk United Methodist Church.
