Norwalk Police: Costumed Man Found In Building, Near Shattered Door

NORWALK, Conn. – A sleeping Long Island man wearing a Halloween costume was found in the hallway of a Norwalk apartment building after apparently smashing through a glass door early Friday, police said.

Residents called police to report seeing the man asleep in the front hallway of the Wall Street building at about 7 a.m. Friday, according to the police report. Thomas Delahunty, 22, of East Northport, N.Y., was wearing a Halloween costume that made him appear shirtless with enhanced muscles, police said.

The glass portion of the building’s front door had been shattered, causing an estimate $400 to $500 in damage, according to the police report. Delahunty told police that the window was intact when he arrived but could not explain how it was broken, police said.

The building’s owner confirmed that only one tenant lives in the building, and that tenant told police she did not know Delahunty. He told police he had escorted a woman to the building, and that she had let him in but could not provide her name, according to the police report. Delahunty also appeared intoxicated, police said.

Delahunty was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, first-degree trespassing and interfering with police Friday. He was held on $1,500 bond and is due in court on Nov. 8.
