The Police Department is working with the Sacred Heart University Department of Criminal Justice for the survey for those who have recently been in contact with Norwalk police Officers.
The department is conducting the survey over the next several weeks by giving out about 1,000 survey forms to "measure the opinions of people who have had voluntary and involuntary contacts with officers," according to the release.
Survey recipients will be obtained from recent police incident reports, arrest reports, motor vehicle accident reports as well as misdemeanor summonses and infractions, according to the release.
"The survey will ask citizens to evaluate certain elements of their encounter with Norwalk Police Officers as well as to provide their general opinion about the Norwalk Police Department and the level of service provided to the citizens of Norwalk," said the release. "Those citizens who receive survey forms are urged to take a few moments to complete the survey and let their voice be heard."
A self-addressed return envelope will be provided with the survey allowing the respondent to mail the survey anonymously, directly to Sacred Heart University.
