If you are not sure if your child's seat is connected correctly, the department's Police Services Division will hold a car seat check on Saturday Oct. 31, at the Norwalk Police Headquarters, 1 Monroe St. The department's certified child passenger safety technicians will conduct inspections by appointment only via jhaggerty@norwalkct.org.

Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children ages one to 13 years old. Child safety seats can reduce fatal injury by 71 percent for infants and by 54 percent for toddlers, ages one to four. While 96 percent of parents and caregivers believe their child safety seats are installed correctly, research shows that seven out of 10 children are improperly restrained.
