Norwalk Police Beef Up DUI Patrols Through Holiday

NORWALK, Conn. – Fireworks are providing Norwalk Police with things to do this weekend but there’s another holiday-related activity on their schedule: DUI enforcement.

There were be extra DUI enforcement everywhere in town through July 4, Sgt. Lisa Cotto said. Eight officers will be looking for those driving under the influence in an enforcement paid for by a federal grant.

The department is also getting reports of shots fired, which turn out to be fireworks, according to scanner traffic.

Of course this will be paid at overtime. It seems the cops in Norwalk make overtime more than they make regular time.

It seems to me you could have two patrol cars doing this on regular pay for a few hours everyday. Yes it's probably O.T. but if it saves one life,..can you put a price on that?
I don't know why more people aren't stopped fpr cell phone use. If I can see it the cops sure can. Cops sitting at traffic lights during regular hours should be able to pull over one car. I saw a patrol car last week sitting at a light behind a landscaping truck that had two workers sitting back there with the mowers and gasoline, rakes and what not. Did the get pulled over? Nope !
