Anaisa Comas, 22, of New Bedford was charged with third-degree promoting prostitution, prostitution, permitting prostitution and possession of less than one-half ounce of cannabis-type substance. She was held on $3,000 bond and will appear in court Nov. 14.
Ricardina Alves, 20, of New Bedford was charged with prostitution. She was held on $500 bond and will appear in court Nov. 14.
The Special Services Unit of the Norwalk Police Department received complaints about prostitution in Norwalk over the last few months, particularly prostitution being arranged over the Internet, police said. The unit set up a sting operation, targeting services that were advertising on Internet sites, particularly those offering sex services in Norwalk.
Police found an individual advertising for sex in Norwalk and set up a meeting in the city, according to police reports.
An undercover officer met with Comas and Alves. Comas was there to set up the deal, and Alves was to engage in the sex act, according to police reports.
After the deal was finalized, teams moved in and took both women into custody, police said. Numerous pieces of evidence were seized, including money, condoms and suspected marijuana, according to police reports.
