NORWALK, Conn. – A 20-year-old Stamford man faces criminal attempt at murder and related felony charges Thursday in connection with a shooting on Woodward Avenue in Norwalk on Feb. 23.

Sean Williams, of Myrtle Avenue, turned himself into police Thursday evening after a warrant was issued for his arrest, police said.

According to Lt. Timothy Murphy, Williams was identified as a suspect in the shooting soon after the Feb. 23 incident, but police did not have enough evidence to charge him with attempted murder. He was initially charged with second degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, while detectives continued to work on the case, Murphy said.

The 21-year-old victim was shot in the back but survived, and he was treated for injuries and released at Norwalk Hospital following the incident.

Police said they chased leads and built a case over the next two weeks, which resulted in the warrant being issued for Williams.

In addition to criminal attempt at murder, Williams was also charged with criminal use of a firearm and carrying a gun without a permit. He was held in lieu of a $500,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Friday.

Whats interesting is what was said at a meeting with a bunch of politics...that in years past CT had 15-20 state police cars watching for illegal guns coming into CT, now there is 1-2...maybe if they added more police to watch there wouldnt be so many illegal guns in Ct!

Paige:

How do you "watch for illegal guns coming into CT"? Search every car? Are they doing TSA types of search of the people on the interstate buses and the train and scanning bags?

Pony Tails Steve:

THANK YOU AGAIN PRESIDENT OBAMA FOR SAVING THE US CAR COMPANIES
February auto sales up
- Auto sales rose nearly 4 percent in February, delivering a better-than-expected

Pony Tails Steve:

Unemployment Hits Four-year Low
THANK YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA AS WE ARE NOW OUT OF THE MESS THE VILLAGE IDIOT WAR CRIMINAL REPUBLICAN BUSH CREATED..
YES WE CAN
Jobs numbers are out for February and they beat expectations, with the unemployment rate hitting a four-year low.

Mary Jane Nelson:

The access to guns in this country is way to easy..
Did everybody see the article in the Hour about the guy had a MAC-10 fully automatic machine gun? Stories like that have me agree with the many who feel that we should repeal the 2nd amendment

Tim T:

WOW
The NPD finally caught ONE and we have the simpletons saying good job. Its clear these simpletons have very low standards. How about the hundreds of shootings in Norwalk that the NPD has not solved..How about the many many stabbing and murders all unsolved, but they caught one ...TOO FUNNY

lwitherspoon:

I agree with Steve - thank you Norwalk PD for tracking this guy down. They can run but they can't hide!

Did everybody see the article in the Hour about the guy who got only three years in jail for having a MAC-10 fully automatic machine gun? Stories like that have me agreeing with the many who feel that gun law violators need to face more serious consequences. How much do you want to bet that three years and one day from now, that same guy will be walking the streets with a different illegal gun in his possession?

Ken P Jr:

And that Witherspoon, is the issue in a nutshell, we tolerate the scumbags in our society. How frustrating it must be to be a cop and arrest the same guy over & over again. How frustrating it must be to do your job and have idiots claiming racial profiling when most of the guys turn out to be of a certain race and from certain areas.
As a peaceful citizen its very frustrating to have MY RIGHTS come under attack because of CRIMINAL activity. we sit here discussing violence and shootings in our city and people actually want to make the GOOD GUYS defenseless. Not very smart or helpfull. Want crime to go down we MUST stop tolerating it PERIOD.

Pony Tail Steve:

I am pro gun, everyone should be able to own them. Its our right. However that said, people that violate the laws should be punished harder. Not too mention he will do maybe 8 months of the 3 years.

Paige:

Steve,

The judicial system has always baffled me. Did you see this story in the news today?

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/03/06/17212442-man-left-in-solitary-confinement-for-2-years-gets-155-million-settlement?lite

Absolutely unbelievable.

Broad River:

"Without that picture, we couldn't have gotten where we were," Coyte said of the lawsuit.,.. makes you wonder Why they took an after solitary photo.

Paige:

I suspect that when he came out of solitary, his looks were so altered, they updated the file. Oops.

The crazy thing is that he was put in solitary for a non-violent crime.

Pony Tail Steve:

Great job NPD of catching this guy. Another scumbag off the street
