Norwalk Police Announce Four Promotions In Its Ranks

NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Police Department recently promoted four officers.

A group of family and friends and Mayor Richard A. Moccia joined Chief Thomas Kulhawik, Deputy Chief David Wrinn, Deputy Chief Susan Zecca and Police Commissioners Peter Torrano and Daniel O'Connor to make four promotions Monday during the monthly Police Commission meeting. 

Sgt. Melissa Lepore, a 15-year veteran, was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and will serve in the Professional Standards Unit. Detective Alex Tolnay, a 14-year veteran, was promoted to the rank of sergeant and will serve within the Crime Scene and Identification Unit. Officer Greg Scully, a 14-year veteran, was promoted to the rank of sergeant and will serve within the Patrol Division. Officer John Taranto, a nine-year veteran, was promoted to the rank of detective and will serve within the Investigative Services Division, according to a press release.
