Norwalk Cops: Men Had 42 Bags Of Pot In Car

NORWALK, Conn. – Three Norwalk men were arrested on a number of drug charges Monday night.

According to police reports, an officer was checking out a parking lot on Water Street due to recent complaints of drug activity. He said he spotted an SUV backed into the corner of the lot with three men sitting inside. The officer said the passenger side windows were down and he could detect the odor of marijuana.

Police said the driver told the officer he had pulled into the lot because he wanted to talk on the phone. The officer called for a K-9 unit because of the odor, and said he got permission from the occupants to search the car.

The K-9 unit found several spots in the car with marijuana, police said, including 42 bags of marijuana in a tin box in the front seat, a large bag in the center console and a backpack in the backseat with a scale and empty plastic bags. Police said none of the occupants of the car admitted to owning the drugs.

Police arrested Ainsley Brown, 19, Tre McPherson, 19, and Jermy Gedeon, 20, and charged them all with possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, intent to sell, possession of drugs within distance of a school and conspiracy.

The following was also reported in the Norwalk police blotter:

A man told police he was assaulted and robbed by three men on Hill Side Street behind Benjamin Franklin Middle School. The victim told police he left work around 11:30 p.m. when three men he did not know jumped out and punched him several times in the face. He told police the men stole his wallet, which contained $500 in cash and his identification. He went to the hospital to be treated for injuries to the right side of his face.
