NORWALK, Conn. -- A 26-year-old Norwalk man is facing numerous charges in connection with incidents at Norwalk Hospital and at police headquarters, where officers had to use a Taser to subdue him, police said.

At about 4 p.m. Sunday, Jamie Young, of 15 Harriet St., was in a holding cell and began damaging a surveillance camera, police said.

Officers entered the holding cell to retrieve the broken part of the camera and to restrain Young, police said.

"He became combative, at which point he was Tasered," said Sgt. Terry Blake, public information officer.

He had been arrested late Saturday at Norwalk Hospital, where he was fighting with the staff, police said. He spat in the face of one of the arresting officers, police said.

Young is facing two charges of assault on a peace officer or emergency medical staff in connection with the incident at the hospital. He is also facing two charges of interfering with a police officer, and one count each of refusing to be fingerprinted, assault on a police officer and first-degree criminal mischief in the incident at police headquarters.

His next scheduled appearance in Norwalk Superior Court is June 4.
