NORWALK, Conn. - A Norwalk man was Tasered and arrested on drug charges Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Tyrone Patterson, 27, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, possession near a school and interfering with an officer.

Officers were patrolling the area of South Main Street Tuesday when they said they spotted Patterson with blood on his face. While they were talking to him, he twisted his body in order to hide his right arm from view, police said. When the officers asked what he was hiding, he spun around and took off running, according to police reports. Police said that he also dropped a plastic bag containing numerous white items and a cell phone. Police chased Patterson across Merritt Street and back to South Main Street. At one point, they shot him with a Taser, but it had no effect on him, according to police reports. Officers eventually tackled him to the ground and handcuffed him. He was taken to Norwalk Hospital to have the Taser prongs removed before being taken to the police station.

The plastic bag contained 22 pieces of crack cocaine, police said. He also had six plastic baggies in his pocket, each containing crack cocaine, according to police.

Patterson was wearing an ankle bracelet because he was on special parole for a felony sale of narcotics in 2005. Police contacted his parole officer after processing him.
