NORWALK, Conn. – A Norwalk man suffered second-degree burns on his face and arm as he tried to put out a fire Sunday evening at his Ivy Place home, according to Norwalk fire officials.
The man’s identity was not released by the department. After treatment for his injuries at the scene, he was transported to Norwalk Hospital for further care, fire officials said. No other injuries were reported.
According to Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Shay, the 6 p.m. fire was contained to the kitchen, which the blaze gutted.
The fire was under control within 20 minutes, but the cause remained under investigation. Three fire engines and two fire truck companies battled the blaze.
