The two suspects were arrested Saturday by Norwalk police and charged in the November incident in Danbury, police said.

At about 9 p.m. Nov. 2, officers responded to a residence on Foster Street in Danbury on a report of a burglary in progress, police said.

Two men — later identified as Kervin Jean-Baptiste, 27, of Norwalk, and Jonathan Vargas, 28, of Danbury — were banging on the front door of the apartment building and causing a disturbance, police said.

Jean-Baptiste was pounding on the door with a baseball bat, which was later recovered at the scene, police said.

Also, Jean-Baptiste was shot during the altercation and treated at the Danbury Hospital emergency room for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Detectives from the Danbury Police Department applied for arrest warrants, which were granted by the court.

On Saturday, Vargas was arrested by Norwalk Police and transported to Danbury Police Headquarters, where he was processed and charged with breach of peace. Vargas was held on $2,500 court-set bond.

Jean-Baptiste was also arrested Saturday by Norwalk police and transported to Danbury Police headquarters. He was charged with criminal attempt of a home invasion, breach of peace and second-degree criminal mischief. He was held on $25,000 court-set bond.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
