Barry Castillo, 45, was charged with fifth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer. There was also a warrant out for him for failure to appear in court, police said. He was held on a $10,000 bond and will appear in court Monday, Nov. 24.

Police were called to Stew Leonard's on Sunday afternoon after two customers reported that their cellphones had been stolen. One customer reported that she put her iPhone on her cart and stepped away to look at the barbecue section. When she walked back, her phone was gone, police said. She had noticed Castillo in the area, walking back and forth.

Another customer also reported that she left her phone on her cart and turned away for a second. When she turned back, her iPhone was also missing. The store's security manager was informed of both incidents and approached Castillo, asking him to turn over the phones. Castillo then returned both phones, according to police reports. The phones were both worth $500, police said.

Police arrived and spoke with Castillo, who originally gave his name as "Tom Green," according to police. Police also found two credit cards on him that weren't his. He told the officers that he had taken them a long time ago, according to police reports. Police also discovered that he had a failure to appear warrant out of Milford, where he is facing charges for fourth-degree sexual assault and second-degree breach of peace.
