Norwalk Man Faces Gun Charge After DUI Arrest

NEW CANAAN, Conn. — A New Canaan snowplow operator charged with driving under the influence after a crash in February has also been charged with carrying a firearm under the influence, Sgt. Carol Ogrinc said Monday.

On Feb. 2, the Norwalk resident, suspected of crashing the plow he was operating while being under the influence of alcohol, told police he had a gun in his personal car, which was parked at the Highway Department, Ogrinc said. A ruger .380 was found and secured by police that night, she said.

The man was charged with carrying a firearm under the influence because it is believed he drove his personal vehicle while intoxicated with the gun in it, Ogrinc said. The suspect turned himself in to police March 18 on the weapon charge, she said.

He did have a permit, she said.

The case is still considered under investigation she said.
