Richard DiPasquale, 54, was charged with threatening and breach of peace and went to court Friday morning.
The incident began at 10:22 p.m. Thursday when officers responded to a 911 call to DiPasquale's Bonnybrook Road, police said. The caller reported that a male who had barricaded himself in a bedroom and might have firearms, according to police.
Officers arrived and secured the scene, police said. They spoke to the caller, a member of DiPasquale's family, police said.
She told police that she and DiPasquale had a verbal argument, during which he had threatened to kill the family. He then went into a bedroom and placed furniture in front of the door so nobody could enter, police said.
The Norwalk Police Emergency Services Unit responded to the scene. After a short time, members of the ESU entered the house, where DiPasquale surrendered without further incident, according to police.
He was taken to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation and released on a promise to appear in court.
