Norwalk Man Charged With Stealing $20,000 In Jewelry

NORWALK, Conn. – A 28-year-old Norwalk handyman has been charged with stealing than $20,000 worth of jewelry from a home he worked at on Edlie Avenue.

Joseph Zullo of Neptune Avenue is believed to have taken a jewelry box containing the items from the home sometime in November while he was doing odd jobs for the homeowners, but the theft was reported by the family on Friday, police said.

The homeowners gave police an inventory of the missing items, some of which Zullo tried to pawn at Connecticut Gold & Silver on Danbury Road in Wilton, police said.

Detectives were able to match items from the pawn shop with those on the list of missing items. Police said Zullo claimed that the items were given to him by another person he declined to identify.

Zullo was charged with third-degree larceny, a felony, and was held in lieu of a $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court Monday.
