Norwalk Man Charged With Running Light, Fleeing Police

NORWALK, Conn. – A Norwalk man was arrested on several motor vehicle charges Monday after police said he ran a red light and fled from pursuing officers.

Terry Braxton, 36, was charged with failure to obey a control signal, operating without a license, interfering with an officer, driving without insurance, failure to renew his registration, improper use of plates and refusing to be fingerprinted. He did not post a $12,500 bond and went to court on Tuesday.

Officers said Braxton stopped his car at a red light at the intersection of Main and Cross streets, then revved his engine and sped through the light. The officer pulled Braxton over and discovered that he did not have a license, insurance or proper registration. Braxton told the officer that the registration was from a friend's car.

While the officer was running Braxton's state-issued ID, Braxton sped off, according to police reports. Ten minutes later the same officer saw Braxton driving past the spot where he had been pulled over, heading in the opposite direction. A few minutes later police received word that he was on Selden Street, where he was taken into custody.

Police said that Braxton was uncooperative with officers, refusing to have his fingerprints or mug shot taken.
