Horace Stultz, 49, of Norwalk, was charged with possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana, possession with intent to sell, possession within distance of a school and selling within distance of a school. He was held on a $50,000 bond and will appear in court on Tuesday, April 29.
Police were contacted by postal employees on April 8, who said that a package addressed to Norwalk had been found to contain narcotics. The package had been inspected by a K-9 unit from the state police, who indicated that it contained drugs, police said. The package was originally from Surprise, Ariz., and had a New York return address.
Police obtained a search warrant and opened the package, which was found to contain a large quantity of marijuana encased in several layers of shrink wrap. An undercover officer attempted to deliver it to the address it was addressed to, but the person at the home was unaware of the package and did not know the person to whom it was addressed.
Police said that someone had called the post office several times to ask about the package. Police called the person back and told him to pick it up at the post office. On the afternoon of Thursday, April 17, Stultz arrived at the post office and picked up the package, according to police. Officers then took Stultz into custody.
