NORWALK, Conn.  – A Norwalk man was arrested and charged with suspicion of heroin sales after he was found with the drug and a large amount of cash during a traffic stop Tuesday, police said.

While on patrol near West Avenue police saw a man driving without a seat belt, and then take a pair of left turns without signaling, according to police reports. When he was pulled over on Maple Street, police found that the man's driver's license had been suspended since 2009, police said.

Officers identified the driver as Vasilios Yerinides, 52, of Mark Drive. During a pat-down officers found 11 bags of heroin in his waistband, and $2,850 in his pocket, according to the police report. Police said they suspect the money had come from drug sales.

Yerinides was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics, sale of narcotics and added charges for being within 1,500 feet of a school. He was also issued motor vehicle infractions for driving with a suspended license, failure to wear a seat belt and turning without a signal. He was held on a $20,000 bond, and is due in court on Aug. 29.
