Norwalk Man Charged With Breaking Into Home

NORWALK, Conn. – A Norwalk man was charged with breaking into a house on Bartlett Avenue in December and stealing jewelry, police said.

Joseph McIntyre, 27, of Norwalk was charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree larceny Monday. He was held on a $10,000 warrant and will next appear in court on Feb. 5.

The arrest stems from an incident on Dec. 1 when a woman who lives on Bartlett Avenue reported that someone broke into her house through the back door, according to police reports. Several items were taken, including two bracelets, a watch, a ring and a silver plated bowl.

McIntyre was identified as a suspect during the investigation and police secured a warrant to search his home on Vail Street, according to police reports. Police said they found stolen items in his bedroom and his car, which were later identified by the owner of the home on Bartlett Avenue. McIntyre admitted to officers that he had committed some burglaries, including the home on Bartlett Avenue, according to police.

A warrant was issued for McIntyre’s arrest and he was taken into custody Monday while appearing in court in Stamford on unrelated charges.
