Jose Franco-Lopez, 44, was charged with interfering with an officer, creating a public disturbance and third-degree forgery. He was held on $5,000 bond and will appear in court July 30.
An officer traveling over the Stroffolino Bridge shortly after midnight saw a man leaning on the side of the bridge, holding onto the hand rail and looking down, police said. Thinking that the man might be jumping, the officer stopped and approached him, police said. He then realized that the man was peeing, according to police reports.
He waited for the man, later identified as Franco-Lopez, to finish before he approached him, police said. Franco-Lopez saw the officer and started apologizing, then handed over an unlaminated ID, police said. The ID had his name on it, but when police ran it through their system it came back to a different name. Franco-Lopez was then placed under arrest.
