On Oct. 3, a man flagged down a Norwalk Police officer to report a robbery. The victim told the officer that he was confronted by a man outside the South Main Variety Store that evening, according to the police report. The suspect took $10 cash and a watch from the man, police said.

The victim told officers that he recognized the man as someone who had previously sold him crack cocaine, according to the police report. He gave police a description, and the suspect was later identified as Ernest Sainvilus, 42, of Highland Avenue, police said.

Norwalk police filed for an arrest warrant for Sainvilus, which was served at his home Monday afternoon. He was charged with third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny and held on $35,000 bond. Sainvilus is due in court Nov. 7.
