Jonas Labaze, 22, was charged with first-degree sexual assault, second-degree unlawful restraint, possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held on $150,000 bond and will appear in court Oct. 17.

A 23-year-old woman reported to police that she was walking in Roodner Court around 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, when she was approached by Labaze, whom she did not know. He began speaking to her in a flirtatious manner, and told her to go to the store and buy condoms, according to police reports. This alarmed the woman, and she began to walk away, police said.

Labaze then grabbed the woman, picked her up and carried her to his second-floor apartment, according to police. He forced her into the apartment and attempted to rip off her pants, police said. The woman was able to fight him off, escape from the apartment and contact police, according to police reports.

When officers responded to Labaze's apartment, they found him inside and detected the strong odor of marijuana, police said. He was then taken into custody.
